The Department of Human Services is Michigan's public assistance, child and welfare agency. DHS directs the operations of public assistance and service programs through a network of 100 county departments of human service offices throughout the state.
Experience Works is a national, non-profit, community based organization whose mission is to put the experience of older individuals to work.
The Hillsdale County Chamber is a non-profit membership based organization. The main goal of the Chamber is to provide a means so that others can identify local sources for needed products or services. Chamber members demonstrate their commitment to the community and their support for a strong local economy.
The Economic Development Partnership (EDP) is a local nonprofit organization committed to the growth of Hillsdale County. We work to provide economic development for the area through our entrepreneurial development, business and industry retention & expansion and business attraction efforts. We also provide services, resources and advocacy efforts on behalf of area business.
- Human Resources Development, Inc. (HRDI)
HRDI, Inc. is a contractor for SCMW! and receives funding for adults, youth, and dislocated workers for employment and training services. HRDI also provides daily classes for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) participants to enable individuals to find employment and ultimately a career. In addition, HRDI maintains the delivery of business services to the tri-county.
JCC has a crucial role to play as students seek appropriate education and credentials. The college's efforts in this area are strengthened by a robust partnership between JCC and South Central Michigan Works!. They bring together public and private sector groups to help employers recruit, develop and retain skilled workers. Students and job seekers are assisted with skill building and connecting with quality jobs as well as resources for continued career advancement. The focus is to ensure this region creates and sustains prosperity based on strong employers with an adequate supply of skilled workers. JCC is a committed partner to many workforce development groups including the Smart Growth Collaborative and the Partnership for Regional Solutions Center. JCC and SCMW! work in concert to ensure activities are both strategic and collaborative in implementation.
Job Corps is a no-cost education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 get a better job, make more money, and take control of their lives.
Key Opportunities seeks to assist youth with disabilities to obtain/enhance education, work skills, and soft skills. Interest, achievement, and aptitude are assessed to help the youth establish a plan to achieve his or her vocational potential. Services may include tutoring for academics and/or drivers license, financial assistance with schooling, testing, or work related clothing or equipment. Services may also include placement in community work experience, transportation to work related appointments and work itself.
The Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) serves approximately 4,500 blind persons each year through its programs. Vocational rehabilitation services, independent living services, deaf blind services, youth services, the business enterprise program, and the MCB training center.
The mission of MRS is to assist Michigan residents with disabilities into employment and self-sufficiency.
The MDCD Veteran services include information available on career opportunities, entrepreneurs, federal benefits, State of Michigan benefits, military transcripts, transition assistance and re-employment rights.
The MISB&TDCsm network provides a full range of services for a variety of small businesses that are emerging and growing throughout Michigan; new venture companies, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new technology companies, and innovators.
Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns The Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns which includes the division on Deaf and Hard of Hearing responds to and advocates on behalf of Michigan's 1.9 million people with disabilities.
