  • Workforce Investment Act (WIA):
    Contracted through Human Resources Development, Inc. (HRDI) and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. Provides funding for adults, youth, and dislocated workers for employment and training services. Established in 2000, the Workforce Investment Act replaced the Job Training Partnership Act of 1978. Access to the Act may be found at www.doleta.gov.

  • Work First :
    Contracted through Human Resources Development, Inc. (HRDI). Michigan's welfare-to-work program, where individuals receiving Family Independence Agency assistance (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families – TANF) must report to a Michigan Works! agency for orientation and job search assistance. Classes are conducted daily to enable individuals to find employment and ultimately a career. Work First is a statewide program operated by the Michigan Works! system to assist individuals in their job search.

  • Wagner Peyser:
    Contracted through Jackson Community College (JCC). Grant which allows Michigan Works! agencies to conduct the labor exchange portion of the Michigan Department of Employment Services (ES). Provides access to the Michigan Talent Bank and a variety of other job search assistance activities. Service Centers also house representatives for veteran's services, migrant and seasonal workers, rehabilitation services, and career counseling.
